Dress Code

Our dress code was established to promote the students’ freedom of movement and the instructor’s observation of correct technique.

We have differentiated the classes by colour.

First, this colour distinction gives the student a sense of accomplishment as the dancer moves up in levels and graduates to a new colour. Secondly, it allows us to visually and easily separate groups during full company showcase rehearsals and group events.

We have specifically chosen a collection of items that may be worn rather than a regimented identical uniform. This is to allow the students to embrace their own personalities, styles and body types whilst still remaining part of a team. It also means that lower-cost/

non-branded items can be purchased and still be appropriate.

Hair should be worn off the face and neck, in a bun, braids, ponytail or twist etc. Hair should not be left to hang long enough to swish about the face, so long braids should be clipped up or in a bun. Bob-length hair should be clipped off the face with grips or a headband.

This enhances the dancer’s vision and enables the instructor to observe proper alignment of neck and shoulders.

Jewellery may not be worn.

Your uniform, your style, your way!

Policies

Fees are payable four-weekly in advance. You will be invoiced digitally for all classes the week before fees are due. Invoices are to be paid via bank transfer.

Classes missed will still be charged unless they are cancelled by the Principal.

If a cancelled lesson cannot be re-arranged then the fee will be refunded in the next invoice.

We encourage consistent attendance. The curriculum is ongoing and cumulative. If a student misses too many classes, he/she will fall behind and be frustrated. We understand that conflicts or illness may cause dancers to miss a class but please call, text or email as soon as possible if you are going to be absent from class.

All students are expected to arrive on time and in the appropriate attire. We understand that circumstances may delay you, sometimes.

If you are more than 10 minutes late, you may be asked to sit and wait for an appropriate moment to join the class.

Pupils are expected to always conduct themselves in a disciplined manner and be respectful to both teachers and fellow pupils.

Mobile phones must be turned off or on silent if brought into class.

Pupils may on occasion be photographed or filmed during class and performances for training and/or advertising purposes.

Please label all belongings (especially footwear). All valuables should be taken into the studio with you. ASPA cannot be held responsible for lost items.

If a student is sick, please do not attend class. We do not want the dancer to end up sicker and we want to minimise the transmission of germs.

Dance classes can involve risk of personal injury. Whilst ASPA takes all reasonable care in the conduct of its classes/rehearsals/events it accepts no responsibility for injury or loss caused during participation in the classes / rehearsals / events.
