at ASPA

Classes

All dancers develop differently across styles. Some are stronger in tap, others in ballet, lyrical or jazz.

At ASPA we excel at truly knowing each dancer as an individual.

Within each age group, each student's training will be tailored
according to their strengths, development and readiness in that particular style. This approach allows us to challenge each dancer individually, ensuring they are stretched where they’re ready, supported where they need it, and given opportunities to truly shine.

Our goal is always confidence, progress and a love of dance, and this structure supports that fully.

Infant Dancers

The Infants class is specially crafted for children aged 3-7 years and is a fantastic introduction to dance. Students will learn the foundational skills of ballet and tap through exercises and games.

When they begin work on their show choreography, they may learn hip-hop, musical theatre or possibly even a flamenco or Irish dance...anything goes! We love the freedom that can bring, as being introduced to so many different styles of dance inspires their creativity, and i
s the perfect stepping-stone to the higher-level classes.

Please note that 1 parent/guardian may attend the trial class but after this, parents/guardians must wait for their child in the lobby area.

Don't forget to bring your drink and favourite teddy bear!

Junior Dancers

The Juniors class (for approximate ages 7-10yrs) concentrates on ballet, tap and jazz technique with an introduction to lyrical and contemporary dance. At this age group there is a stronger emphasis on technique and performance skills.

Choreography will cover extra dance styles for performance such as musical theatre, commercial and national dance.

Inter Dancers

Our Inters class is a transitional class (for approximate ages 10-12yrs) to bridge the gap into Senior Squad.

Choreography is taught at a faster pace and a high level of stamina, technique and performance is expected. Students will move into this class based on technique.

For our Seniors, an array of dance styles will be covered from lyrical to jazz, tap to contemporary, ballet to commercial as well as Broadway-style musical theatre routines. This is our pre-professional class where students are treated as independent dancers and encouraged to develop their skills in choreography and characterisation.
